July 2nd 2024, Barcelona – Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky will be coming back to season four of RX2e Championship for, at least, two rounds: Höljes in Sweden and Nyirád in Hungary. The Swede driver returns to RX2e after a very successful debut last year. Once again, she will be racing for Team E, joining forces with last season’s champion Nils Andersson.

In an impressive debut season, Åhlin-Kottulinsky managed to get to the final round in Estering with options to conquer the title, but in the end finished in third position, just 10 points behind her teammate, who ended winning the Championship, and fellow rival this year Isak Sjökvist.

“It was amazing to be able to finish in a 3rd overall position last year, and as the year started my goal then was to be at the same speed as the top drivers by the end of the year – a goal I feel that I fulfilled. For this year I want to start off with same goal, to be amongst the top speed drivers and continue to push myself and learn of the rallycross world. However with new tires coming in it´s also much to adapt to them and find the right feeling to maximize the speed”, she explains about her expectations for this new season.

Nevertheless, she had a season to remember, where she managed to get to the final in three rounds, scored a podium in her debut race in Hell and achieved an impressive second position in Mettet, just behind fellow Swede and 6-time World Champion Johan Kristoffersson.

“Last season was a steep learning curve of the rallycross world, and with new tracks coming in this year I’d say the challenge is the same. In order to win a championship experience, and understanding is key and I want to keep collect and build on that”, she adds.

Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky has been the first woman to achieve a pole and win a race in the Scandinavia Touring Car Championship, where she raced from 2017 until 2021, before stepping into Extreme E, where she kept improving her results. In the first season in Extreme E she achieved a third place overall at the end of the Championship, in 2022 she improved the position and placed second in overall standings. And finally last season she got the big reward winning the Championship alongside Johan Kristoffersson with Rosberg X Racing. This season, they are currently in P1 in the standings.

And she feels ready to get behind the wheel: “It’s not without a great team behind you that you get a championship win, and a 3rd place overall in RX2e. I’ve had and I am having a great opportunity to work with the best, something I’m very grateful for and happy to do again for season 2024. I can’t wait to be behind the wheel again and continue my rallycross journey!”

The new RX2e season will start at Höljes, Sweden on July 6th-7th. For more information about RX2e, please visit the official website at www.fia-rx2e.com
