June 28th 2024, Montmeló – Lajos Gyula, commonly known as “Luigi”, has stepped up to international electric rallycross and will debut in RX2e when the season starts in Höljes on July 6th-7th.

The Hungarian driver has an extensive career: he started racing at just 8 years old, in motocross. As he got older, he decided to switch from 2-wheel to 4-wheel and started competing in Autocross. He raced in several national Championships in Hungary, Austria and Czech Republic, and eventually moved to European Championships, such as the Super1600, where he achieved a podium.

In 2024, after a 3-year hiatus from competition, he returns to racing in a Rallycross European program, this time electric, as he will be racing in RX2e. “This opportunity will allow me to test myself in a totally new discipline. It is also great way to try and enter the World Championship!”

For his expectations regarding this season, he prefers to take it calmly: “I haven’t competed in 3 years, I think I have to shake off the rust at first. There’s no need to put so much pressure in advance. Let’s see where I stand first, and we will take it from there. I don’t know the opponents, which I think is good!”.

As an RX2e driver, he will be behind the wheel of the ZEROID X1, the powerful car created by QEV Technologies for this Championship that he had already driven in some tests in Calfat and Nyirád during the pre-season: “The electric drive is very interesting. I’ve only driven it twice, but I like the convincing constant performance! Also the team, their professional organization, the service, along with the cars were very convincing to me. Everything is built so that I can push to the limit, and I like that!”.

The first round of the Championship will be in Höljes, Sweden on July 6th-7th, before heading to Nyirád, Hungary on July 27th-28th; Mettet, Belgium on August 17th-18th; and Montalegre, Portugal, on September 7th-8th.
